What is NComputing?
‘NComputing’ was founded with the goal of making desktop computing affordable for every organisation, and is redefining the economics of desktop computing. Based in California NComputing produce hardware and software to create virtual desktops which enable multiple users to simultaneously share one computer.
The company’s approach is similar to ‘Thin clients’; but promises better media streaming and lower costs as well as the company supporting both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Why ‘N – Computing’?
The name “NComputing” comes from the mathematical term “n” -which stands for an indefinite number – in this case; an infinite number of additional users sharing a single computer.
Why Use NComputing?
Simply the cost! For less than a price of a single desktop computer you can purchase a ‘five user kit’ that would allow for 6 users to share 1 computer. More than that, two ‘five user kits’ can be installed onto one main computer terminal; so the total number of users rises to 11, two lots of five users, plus one using the main terminal! Running your computer systems the ‘NComputing’ way means you spend less on the initial buying of individual computers. Less computers means you save on your maintenance costs. You also have just one main terminal to take care of so you only need a single licence for items such as ‘Anti-Virus’ per 11 terminals!

NComputing systems save you money by using less electricity! Access devices use as little as 1 watt of electricity compared to 110 watts for a regular PC, saving around 90% on you’re your electricity bills. Because they last much longer than PCs. they also drastically reduce e-waste because they are so tiny; an access devices only weigh 150 grams, compared to 9.6 kilograms for a PC!
