Facebook Twitter Google – Too Big?

Both Facebook and Twitter have now made it easier to post to each other’s platforms. “Facebook have a Twitter account, Twitter has …”  well you get where I’m going!

Facebook friend list update targets Google+”
A BBC quote: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-14906877

“Facebook has been rolling out a range of new features over the recent weeks. It seems now that Facebook users are to have more control over their connections. Facebook members are to have control over how their connections are grouped, using a ‘List’ principle All these new features are aimed at Google+. Google+ is expected to hit 100m users this year.”

Is it inevitable that there is to be a fight between these online giants? Are the ‘Big 3′ heading for an almighty collision - and if so, what would be the fall-out? The BBC recently asked:

What’s up with Facebook? Every day this week seems to bring a new announcement about some tweak to the way the network operates, and that’s before next week’s F8 event, where we expect to hear about a music service, possibly operated by Spotify.”

Is what is happening to our UK towns and high streets (ie the big supermarkets buying-up everything before them, eating up our town centres, selling everything and selling it for peanuts!) happening on the net?. Will their be no need for lesser sites, niche site, alternative sites?

Just-drinks.com quote:
“Diageo’s tie-up with Facebook is going to cost the drinks giant at least US$10m, but return on investment could far eclipse that figure”

This is big money – but it’s also big business! Do we need to worry? When large national brands advertise their Facebook page URL, not their own website URL – should we consider the question – “Are they getting too big?”

I say no! The net is for everyone. If the Goliaths of the net such as Facebook, Google and Twitter are successful, we and our businesses can be successful too. The real threat from Social Media to our businesses is not to get involved in it. Alchemy Systems is now a fully paid up member of the ‘Social Media revolution and is embracing it to the full. Things change, things move on. What was then, doesn’t have to be now.

Facebook, Twitter and Google – too big? – join the party! Facebook, Twitter & Google are too big to ignore!
